Privacy
Tracuela is an app for bands: it holds the structure of your songs and the recordings you make against them. This page sets out exactly what it stores, where, and who else can see it. It is deliberately short, because the app does not do very much with your data.
What there is never any of
- No advertising. There is no ad network in the app and none planned.
- No tracking or product analytics. Nothing records which screens you open or how long you spend in them.
- No selling or sharing your data with anyone, for any purpose.
- No push notifications, so no device tokens are collected.
What is stored
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address, and a display name if you have one | To sign you in and to show your bandmates who changed a song |
| Your bands, songs, arrangements, lyrics, notes and setlists | They are the thing the app is for |
| Audio recordings you make or import | So the band can hear a take against the song it belongs to |
| Crash reports | So faults get fixed. These contain technical details about the failure, not your songs. |
Recordings are personal data and treated as such. They are audible to the members of the band the song belongs to, and to nobody else.
Who else is involved
Tracuela uses a small number of services to run. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job.
| Service | What it handles | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Sign-in and your account | United States |
| Neon | The database: bands, songs, arrangements | London (AWS eu-west-2) |
| Cloudflare R2 | Audio recordings | Cloudflare's network, which may include locations outside the UK and EU |
| Sentry | Crash reports | European Union |
| Expo (EAS) | Hosting the app's server, and delivering app updates | United States |
The microphone
The app asks for the microphone only so you can record takes, and only records while you have pressed record. It does not listen at any other time. You can refuse the permission and still use everything else.
Sign-in
There are no passwords. You sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a one-time code sent to your email. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, Tracuela only ever sees the relay address Apple gives it.
Deleting things
Deleting a band deletes its songs and its recordings.
Deleting your account is not yet possible from inside the app. Until it is, email tracuela@gmail.com and your account and the recordings you made will be deleted. We would rather say this plainly than describe a button that does not exist.
A recording you replace or remove is marked deleted immediately and stops being available in the app. The underlying file is removed from storage afterwards rather than at that instant.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email the address above and you will get an answer from a person.
Children
Tracuela is not aimed at children under 13 and accounts are not knowingly created for them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the app will say so rather than hoping you re-read the page.
